Hi, I’m Sarah - and I’m so glad you found your way here.

I'm a multidisciplinary visual artist, writer, arts-based researcher, and late-diagnosed Autistic woman living on Gubbi Gubbi Country in Nambour.

I founded Unmasked Art because I believe that creativity belongs to everyone — not just trained artists, or people who've been told they're talented.

All of us have a creative life. Tending to it is how we take notice — of ourselves, of each other, of the world quietly unfolding around us.

For neurodivergent people especially, this matters. We're given endless instructions for how to improve, how to cope, how to function better — but rarely permission to just be. To make without purpose. To create without outcome.

Creativity isn't another productivity hack. It's a survival strategy. It's how many of us find meaning, connection, and belonging. It's where creativity becomes refuge, revelation, and resistance.

Unmasked Art exists to honour that. The studio is in the Old Ambulance Station in Nambour — a space built for making, connecting, and being yourself without pressure or judgement. You might pick up new skills here. You might make something that surprises you. But that's never the point. The point is the making itself.

Alongside the studio, I'm completing a practice-led PhD exploring creativity, identity, and late autism diagnosis, and serve on the Board of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network Australia and New Zealand. Advocacy and creativity are not separate things for me — they never have been.

If you've been looking for a place to create, connect, and be yourself — welcome.

I'd love to meet you.

Creative wellbeing for all kinds of minds.
